Doing this Padang guard has opened my eyes a little as to how tourist think. Time and again, I've been approached by the caucasians, asking me just what all this huge set up is for. A sporting event? Haha...rugby, no. Cricket, no. A festival? more or less. Its for National Day...and then a quizical look spreads over their face as they go...ahhh. Our independence day, I throw in, to give them a sense of just what all this madness is for. Oh.... yes, yes, independence day. How apt.
And the other group of tourist regularly encountered would be the asians, predominatly chinese. The've got this funny habit of taking plenty of pictures with trees...and according to mum n dad, they don't have any trees in the city, their city that is. No wonder. Also, practically every group that comes along would have their picture taken with this banner. All i understand from that banner after staring at it for so,so many times? First two characters are Zhong Guo, and the last three are Xing Jia Puo. China and Singapore...with plenty of space in between for you to fill with your imagination. And, they like to say "Chie Shi" instead of cheese. Cheesy...probably can't pronounce that.
But the best type of tourist that i encounter, and hope to encounter on a more regular basis, are the babes. Like that really hot korean babe on sunday. Wow. Yeah....bring it on man. A couple of Japanese ones, more Koreans, Taiwanese....yeah baby yeah. =)
