Ken piao ge just got married yesterday. After an uneventful Catholic church service, we headed for the Regent hotel for the customary tea ceremony. After that it was the dinner, which Singaporeans consider the actual marriage ceremony, and end for us, start of honeymoon and married life for Hong Ken.
Ooh....definitely not the way i like it. Not that i'm anti-marriage, far from it. I just don't like all that customs, tradition, and what-have-you nonsense. I mean, it was supposed to be the happiest day of his life...or at least rank as one of the happiest, but here he is, looking stressed out because he has to say hello to everyone, make sure he didn't miss anyone out. His bride, Pauline looked a litle more stressed and tired than he did. So, i've decided long ago that my wedding day won't be like that. Mum said all these big dinners and all was to make it memorable, the couple just want to share the joy. Yeah right, can you truly remember how many wedding dinners you've been to? Not for me, my wedding need not be huge and grand. But it's to be relaxed, charming, joyful, enjoyable and memorable, not just for my significant other and me, but for everyone attending. I'd hold it scaled down, that means no inviting relatives you seen when the moon turns blue, and that applies for friends too. They can go for another dinner, the supposed wedding ceremony after the actual day. No customs or traditions on the actual day though, or as little as possible. I haven't thought much about how it would be, but that's because i've got no girlfriend yet. Once it's time, i'll have a better feel.
Anyway, had lunch at Crystal Jade today to celebrate grandpa's birthday. But it wasn't just any Crystal Jade, it was the Crystal Jade. Their flagship Crystal Jade Golden Palace at Paragon. Lovely place, very chic, beautiful service, we had a private room and a personal waitress. The wait staff was polished and helpful as you'd expect from places like these, and the food was abosolutely delicious. Prices were on the high side, but hey, i could get used to living like this. Yet another reason to study hard and make it rich, big time.
