Just came back from Bootleg Counrty!!! My first holiday overseas on my own and about time too, i'm already 19. Well then, not much of a point giving you a day to day running commentray of my trip...so here are the highlights of the trip.

We first knew we were in trouble when we tried to get breakfast moments after arriving in KL. Roti Prata here is called Roti Canai. No, thats not where the trouble is. The trouble came while trying to decipher the menu...all in malay, which i did a pretty good job of translating into english for the guys. Then came ordering. We exasperated one indian guy, and he had to call another over. Finally, 1 kosong and 1 egg was ordered. What were we getting ourselves into?

The hotel wasn't that bad...it's just...you know, not got as many stars as the others that's all. I mean, we're poorly paid...being able to afford a holiday is not bad at all. Ok then, we decided to trek to KL central train station, and after rushing past cars on the highway, we discovered at the station that we were in the wrong place. Fabulous, after that wild trek. Fortunately, the correct station, KL central NEW...was only 1 stop away, on a rather lousy interpretation of our MRT. Patriotic? You decide. Headed to Mid Valley after that, and had lunch at the KFC there. In true Singaporean kiasu-ism, we ordered way more than we could finish, because "it's very cheap leh." We almost puked our hot n crispies. Enough chicken....erm, KFC that is.

Our trip to Chinatown was a definite eye opener. We liked it enough to be going back there almost everyday. Petaling Jaya, bootleg country, pirates island, chiong central, whatever you want to call it. It even has chiong versions of chiong stuff...cool eh? Turns out Ah Liang was a real pro in the art of negotiation, pushing the prices down down down. He single-handedly bargained for every single one of our purchases, helping us save...lots. Not bad eh? The other spots that Ji Shuang gave us weren't that good. Especially Chow Kit....it's a bloody malay wet market...not some bazzar....we got out of there pronto.

Then came the world's tallest twin towers. After spending that much money, you'd expect some title to help sell the place won't you. While queing for the tickets up to the famed, i think, skybridge, we bumped into 3 girls that we saw yesterday. Soon, they were turning out all around the place, what a waste that i didn't go say hi. Well, that's that. Caught the Incredibles during the long wait for the skybridge, and i must say its...Incredible. Went up on the skybridge shortly after, and i must say that its a let down. Its not that high up that it'll make you dizzy, and you're so protected, you don't feel anything. Can't say the same for Lawrence and Yew Keng though. Both were scared of heights and were positively gripping the floor with their toes. I was just going "so low only, scary meh?" I suggest a bungee jump in the middle of the bridge to spice things up. The first jumper would be me. What say you?

The last day was reserved for any last minute and/or expensive (read: branded) shopping. There was this pair of shoes that i was eyeing, and did not have enough cash to get, but hey, there's always the plastic option. Unfortunately, there shoe just didn't have my size. Dang. Same goes for the pair of Espirit pants. Fine, so that was out for me. Ended up with 2 rather beng looking T-shirts from chiong central. Who cares.

Finally, came the train trip back. After nights of good food and booze, buying lotsa clothes and trying hard not to get ripped off too much, it was time to go home. We had 2nd class sleepers home not because that was all we could afford. No no, it was because 1st class was fully booked. And 2nd class didn't feeel that bad. Don't let Lawrence fool you with his "Na Beh, next time must take 1st class." Its the same thing he said about the hotel, "Next time i come i must stay at the JW Mariott." An i thought i was the spoilt kid. Anyway, the trip back was pretty enjoyable, a totally different exerience, though not one i would like to go on again any time soon.

So till the next one, happy holidays...
