It was explosive yesterday, truly explosive. Completed our advanced demolitions live firing 4, or DML4 in military terms. Words just can't express the feelings when you set a bomb off right.

For the record, i fired the opposed charge, possibly my last bomb before turning civy. With 2 kg worth of high explosive, i guess i got a pretty strong one to blow. And, to make things more interesting, the method of detonation was switched from electric to non-electric. Yeah...run, no i mean...RUN!!!

To make things worse, the i-chain i got was 1st, not mine, 2nd cut in the wrong way. Last minute correction done, and down on my knees to fire off the bomb, i turned to look at 2Lt Jesse, and boy was his face red. He was way more kan cheong than me for sure. Hey, i'm the one with the stupid 5kg rifle here bogging me down, not you. After setting off the sparks though, the explosion really felt like a huge sigh of relief, that the bomb didn't go blind. Better still, i believe this is the first DML range i've been to where there was not a single blind. Well, well, this one was also more fun cuz we had targets to blow. My concrete slab was totally vapourized, unlike Kay's, which was simply powderized. Way fun, tamping the bombs to make bigger holes in the ground....boys.... After that, we went on to fire rockets and smoke pods, which created a beautiful smoke screen that some of the guys played with, in, whichever way you look at. Only scare came during the demo lesson when the bangalore torpedo started rolling off the table. Fortunately they caught it just in time, else you'll have to read the after-life edition of this.

Personal achievments didn't end there though. Went home and finally figured out how to operate the washing machine. Not like i'm so papmpered i don't do house work. Its just that i've never bothered about the laundry, and in camp, the washing machines are idiot proof. Clothes in, generous dousing of dtergent, close lid, dollar coin in, collect clothes in half hour. See. So when i washed my clothes and home with the machine, and didn't spoil it, hey, you've come a long way.
