Right...i'm feeling pretty tense now, don't know why exactly, but there's this restlessness in me that's been bothering me for awhile. Probably just stress, but i truly do hate thios feeling whenever it comes around. Well then, anyway, I'm currently on stand-by, and the mental weariness of being on stand-by is probably messing around with my head a little now.

Anyway, this week was quite a roller-coaster of emotions. Thursday had one of the wildest swings. After the 4km route march, OC, who happens to be this week's DFO, proudly announced that he had to activate us at least once this week, just for show. So, he asked us if 15 minutes break after the march was enough to get ourseleves ready. No need for showers, just come down as you are, soaking with sweat and all. So, fine...PC went ahead with 10 minutes, garang as hell as usual, and we all went to prepare for it. Turns out we were 10 magazines short, to our horror, and frantic borrowing of stores ensued. For me, once i made sure i had everything, i just saddled up my FBO and sat on the stairs, waiting for the darned siren.

The siren did sound after 10 minutes or so, and the adrenaline started rushing. This being our first pre-warned activation, we made it to the parade square much faster than the last, when we were caught with our pants down, literally. I was caught napping the last time, and our dear Wei Ying almost fell asleep waiting for this activation. Being number 2 to reach the parade square, the ever gan chiong Potato being the first, i took my time to admire the camp and the Delta recruits who were staring at us like we just landed from outer space. Look at the hair dude, your the ones that's different from everyone else, you're the martians, not us. Well then, field packs off and on the ground, and all of us assembled, our dear PS, the ever reliable Bao Ge started to frantically count everyone. After counting everyhead at least twice, he brought us to attention and kick started the reporting. As ususal, DFO wanted our field pack items checked, and weapons stripped. Like what else can they check? The checks were then done in the usual i'm-checking-'cause-i-have-to manner, so we did manage to get past it with any extras flying in.

Ok, after the really slack checks, all of us were back in and snoozing since another activation was a very distant prospect. Friday wasn't much different, except that this time...I told everyone not to draw the extra magazines...no activation, trust me. Turns out my bet was right, as we spent the first half of the day snoozing. The second half was spent trying to sleep, then wrinting crap USMS(i still don't know what that is after 1 year) and then playing soccer. After that, we escaped from the camp and started our weekend relax....makes you want to be on stand-by innit?
